What we collect
This site uses Google Analytics 4 to understand, in aggregate, how visitors find and move through it: pages viewed, approximate location, device type, and the source that brought you here. We also read Google Search Console, which tells us what people typed into Google before a page of ours appeared, again only as totals. Neither one gives us your name, your email, or any way to identify you. We also run the Meta Pixel, which tells Facebook and Instagram that a visit happened, which page it was, and enough about your browser and device for Meta to match it to you if you are signed in to one of their apps. That one does identify you, to Meta, though never to us. The only personal details we ever hold are the ones you type in yourself, on the enquiry form, the newsletter signup, or a job application.
What we do with it
We use aggregate analytics to judge whether the site is doing its one job: helping the right people understand what we do and write to us. The Meta Pixel is there so that we can reach people who have already read us, if and when we advertise. We do not sell or rent visitor data to anyone. We will not pretend the pixel is neutral: what it sends Meta goes into the advertising profile Meta already holds on you, and that is the trade you are making by reading us with a Facebook or Instagram account open.
Cookies
Google Analytics and the Meta Pixel both set cookies, the first to tell one visit from another, the second to tie a visit to a Meta account. You can block or clear cookies in your browser at any time; the site works fully without them.
Enquiries
The enquiry form and anything sent to info@ddfconsulting.co reach the founder's inbox and are read there. The form itself is handled by Netlify, who host this site, so a copy of what you send is also stored in our account with them until we clear it. We hold your email and what you chose to tell us, and nothing more. We will never add you to a mailing list you did not ask for.
Job applications
If you apply for a job here, the form asks for your name, the pronoun you want us to use, your gender, your email, phone number, the part of Lagos you live in, your CV, a passport photograph, links to work you have made, how long you have been doing it, what equipment you own, what else you are working on, and when you could start. We ask for those things to decide who to interview, and we use them for nothing else. Like the enquiry form, it is handled by Netlify, who host this site, so a copy sits in our account with them until we clear it. Ask us to delete what you sent and we will.
The Terrain
If you subscribe to our writing, your email address goes to MailerLite, who run the list and send the editions. We give them your address and nothing else. It is used to send you The Terrain and for no other purpose, every edition carries an unsubscribe link that works immediately, and the list is never sold, rented or swapped with anyone.
Who else touches it
Four companies, and no others: Netlify host the site and hold enquiry and job application submissions, MailerLite run the newsletter list, Google provide the analytics and the search reporting, and Meta receive what the pixel sends them. All four are outside Nigeria and the UK, so anything you send us is processed abroad. We use each of them for the one job named here and give them no more than that job needs.
How long we keep it
An enquiry is kept as ordinary business correspondence for as long as the conversation, or the engagement that follows it, is live, and for six years afterwards where we are required to keep business records. A newsletter address is kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove it, and is then deleted. Ask us to delete anything sooner and we will, unless the law requires us to hold it.
Your rights
Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act, you may ask what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, ask for it to be deleted, or ask us to stop using it. Write to info@ddfconsulting.co and we will handle it directly, at no cost, within a month. If we get it wrong you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
Changes
We may revise this note as the site changes. The date at the top says when it last changed, and the version published here is the one that applies.
